I dyed this silk fabric a while ago and yesterday I got the urge to do some free machine quilting on it without much planning. I quilted the flower shapes then I appliqued the organza on it by sewing from the back along the stitching lines, leaving the outside edges free. Then I cut the shapes out on the front. I seem to enjoy this unplanned, spontaneous sewing much more and sometimes it turns out well. I'm not sure what sort of form the quilting will take in the red bit yet!
