This is the sock I was working on with the wool which has got a pattern dyed into it. I got this far in No Reading Week and haven't done any since ... partly because now I have to pick up stitches for the heel and I hate picking up stitches - I always seem to end up with a big gap at the end or spaced unevenly throughout...

Liz, why not try a "short row heel" (lots of patterns on the internet) which involves no picking up and gives a rather neat result?
Great sock though - lovely colour!
Thanks, Gill. I've not heard of this one (being the first sock I've ever tried!). I'll investigate it.
