Birthday treats

It's Anselm's 13th birthday on Tuesday so we went to Pizza Hut for lunch. We all stuffed ourselves and Anselm had about 6 toppings on his pizza, loads of coke, garlic bread and sticky puddings to finish. Yumm! Beats cooking anyway. His parcel of Manchester United goodies ordered for his present haven't arrived yet so I hope they come before Tuesday or there'll be scenes here...

I've decided the kids are watching too much TV and/or computer stuff so I'm going to try and limit their use, so when we were at the shops I bought them all an art set to try and encourage their creativity and hopefully limit their recriminations!

I'm currently reading The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron - I started it about a year ago - I must try and actually follow it this time.

If my copy wasnt' packed up and in the back of the storage closet, I would do this with you. I attempted it one other time and only got about 1/3 of the way through.

If you can figure out how to keep a 13 year old boy away from video and TV, LET ME KNOW....I send mine outside to do chores and he does them double time so he can get back in and play more video!

I've started Artist's Way 3 times. I get to about chapter 7 or 8 and slow down or stop...

and I WON'T DO MORNING PAGES. (unless you count a blog).

It's funny, with the people who've done it... they either really get the MPs and have trouble with the day out.. or they get the day out and hate the MPs. which part works for you?

Well, when I first bought the book I did the morning pages enthusiastically for about a week and it seemed to work. But then it got very repetitive - I think I got most of my moans out of my system!! I never got further than that. So far this time I've done one lot of mp and nothing else except to read the stuff for the first week so I'll keep you posted! I seem to keep up with all these self-improvement programmes for a few weeks then give it up for a few months or years - like 'Drawing on the right side of the brain'. I've got through about the first 12 assignments and haven't done anything on that for a couple of months. Something else always comes along...

Hi Teri,

Mine don't even do chores (except feeding the cat) so any advance on that will be an improvement!!
