And here's one of those in the garden... it's having to fight for its little patch!

Oh my. What a bounty!! Our cherry trees are also covered but, they are so overgrown that I would need a lift to pick anything! So, the birds benefit. I have planted a new cherry tree with the intention of keeping it pruned to a proper size and shape but, it is too young to bear fruit yet.

Re: the slug problem. Get some shallow tins, like tuna tins and put them in the garden so that the rims are level with the ground. Put some ale in it (about 1/2 full). The slugs will crawl in and drown. Check them every couple of days to pick out the dead slugs and refill.
