The design on the lid. It was murder sewing that metallic organza! I enjoyed sewing most of it, though - it was a stipulation of the course that one of the pieces had to be mostly hand stitched and this one was mine.
It wasn't too bad because it all comes out and I started from the inside, sewing rectangles of card together (already covered with fabric) - a bit like a spider's web. You use ladder stitch with a curved needle for these boxes and it's quite relaxing doing it. It wasn't at all as hard as I'd expected once I'd worked out the order to do it in. The most fiddly bit was covering the curves on the sides of the lid with metallic organza. Awful stuff to work with !! Worth it in the end though...
Hello! I'm a textile artist based in the UK. My main blog is at http://www.lizplummer.com/blog but I set up a new one to encourage me to take at least one photo each day.

Lovely box - I like the curves on the sides of the lid. The inside must have been fiddly to make.
